I had fun last night bumming around book stores, eating wings and finally getting to see The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian on its last night at my local theater (long story short:  It’s good…really good).

But the grand prize of the evening?  A $6.95 uber-toy found on a table near the checkout counter at Books-A-Million:  Build Your Own Stonehenge.

Build Your Own Stonehenge

(image shamelessly stolen from Amazon, my kit’s not assembled yet)

This thing is flippin’ sweet.  The biggest of the stones is barely an inch tall, but the detail is amazing.  The base is a circular puzzle printed like grass and rocks with numbers where each of the standing stones goes (each stone has a corresponding number on the underside).  My plan is to cut out a stiff cardboard circle the same size as the puzzle, then assemble the puzzle upside down so I can tape it together.  Then I’m going to glue the puzzle to the cardboard circle and spray the top with clearcoat.  After that, I’ll glue the stones to the base and I’ll have a solid piece that I’m calling “Minihenge” that I will display atop one of the cabinets in my cubicle.  It’ll be a unique way to identify my location in the cube farm.

“Hey Sam, I’m bringing up that laptop for you to look at.  Where are you at?”

“Walk down the east hallway until you see a tiny Stonehenge on top of a cubicle.”

:D
