Wow, what a great weekend! I’m pretty wiped and about to turn in so I can get up and into the office at a reasonable hour tomorrow, but I thought that as long as I was sitting at my computer listening to music and playing a bit of Civ2, I’d make a quick post.
My weekend started on Friday night. After getting very little sleep on Thursday night, I was quite tired. Still, I hadn’t really been out or done anything all week, so I was looking for people to maybe hit up Claude & Annie’s with me so we could watch in amusement the Friday Night Karaoke that takes place there after 9:00PM. Unfortunately, most of my friends were otherwise occupied. As it turns out, that was a good thing - what I really needed was a restful night in with a couple of movies and some snacks.
I rented Casino Royale and The Good Shepherd, two movies that I had wanted to catch in the theater but had missed. I’d heard both of them were pretty good, so I assumed I was in for a good evening of movie-watching. Both were entertaining, but I thought The Good Shepherd was absolutely astounding. Casino Royale was a bit long I thought, and didn’t stand out from other Bond movies as I’d heard. Still, it was worth the price of a rental and was mostly entertaining.
Saturday, I got a haircut and ran a few other errands. Then Paul and I drove up to Muncie to visit Chris and Amber. We had an awesome time at the drag show put on by Spectrum (Ball State’s LGBT student organization…see my last post for links). They raised a lot of money for the Damien Center, which is very cool.
I’d hoped to get a few good pictures, but 1) I left my phone at Chris’ house by accident and 2) with the lighting in the gymnasium I doubt crappy cameraphone pictures would have come out anyway.
After the show, we headed over to an after party held at one of the hosts’ (hostesses’?) house. I had a few beers and we hung out for a bit and generally had a very good time. I was pleased to discover that the liquor store near Chris’ house stocks cold six-packs of Bell’s Brewery’s outstanding Oberon Ale - my second favorite beer (after the Lawnmower Pale Ale at the Broad Ripple Brewpub).
After the party, we went back to crash at Chris’ house. Paul and I got on our way back to Indy this morning around 10:00AM. Many, many, many thanks to Chris and Amber for hosting us and many thanks to the people who worked so hard to put on the Legends drag show. It was incredible!
This afternoon I went to Zionsville pretty much as soon as I got back for a Dungeons & Dragons session. It was a pretty hair-raising session, nearing on a Total Party Kill at one point. To sum up - Porter got his ass smacked with Slay Living, I have a smoking left eye and may be marginally evil. And we lost Cara’s character and (possibly) Glasser’s character. Woo boy.
Anywho…I think that just about covers it. I have a couple of quasi-political things that I was thinking about over the weekend, but I lack the mental stamina to discuss them right now. Perhaps I’ll make a post later in the week.
I hope everyone else had a great weekend!
